Therapies

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

CBT is a one of the most widely recognised and evidence-based therapeutic approaches that proposes our thoughts influence our emotions and actions. By identifying and challenging negative or unhelpful thought patterns, we can reduce emotional distress, change problematic behaviours and bring about positive changes in our lives. Clients learn to reframe unhelpful thoughts with more realistic and balanced perspectives in a time limited and goal-oriented therapy.

Interpersonal Therapy

IPT is a time-limited and evidence-based therapy focused on improving interpersonal relationships and resolving emotional difficulties to help shape our well-being. Through IPT, individuals explore current interpersonal challenges, such as conflicts, grief, role transitions, or social isolation and develop healthier communication and problem-solving skills. By enhancing interpersonal functioning, IPT aims to alleviate symptoms and improve overall psychological well-being.

Schema Therapy

Schema therapy integrates elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychoanalysis, and attachment theory to address deep-rooted emotional and behavioural patterns. Schema therapy focuses on identifying and changing maladaptive schemas, or core beliefs, that develop during childhood and persist into adulthood. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, clients learn to address and let go of unresolved childhood experiences and promote healing. In this process clients are supported to develop a healthy sense of self, foster self-compassion, and rebuild healthier relationships.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

ACT is an evidence-based approach that fosters psychological flexibility and meaningful living. ACT recognises that suffering is a natural part of the human experience, it emphasises accepting and embracing difficult thoughts, emotions, and sensations rather than struggling to eliminate or control them. By developing mindfulness skills clients can diffuse from unhelpful thoughts and engage in committed action aligned with their values .

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

DBT is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals struggling with intense emotions, self-destructive behaviours, and difficulties in relationships. DBT combines elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy with concepts of mindfulness and acceptance. DBT focuses on teaching clients’ skills to manage distress, regulate emotions, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and cultivate mindfulness. DBT emphasises acceptance and validation while simultaneously encouraging change.

Watch, Wait and Wonder Play Therapy

Watch, Wait and Wonder is a child led psychotherapeutic approach that directly uses the infant’s activity in free play to enhance parent’s sensitivity and responsiveness, the child’s sense of self and self-efficacy, emotion regulation, and the child-parent attachment relationship. The approach provides space for the infant or child and parent to work through developmental and relational struggles through play. Central to the process is engaging the parent to be reflective about the child’s inner world of feelings, thoughts and desires, through which the parent recognizes the separate self of the infant and gains an understanding of their own emotional responses to their child.
